Arenzano NEMO Clinical Center was established on December 1st, 2010. It is located into the Intensive Neurorehabilitation Unit of La Colletta Hospital (Genoa), with the partnership of Regione Liguria and ASL3 in Genoa.
The aim of such a brand-new experimental management between Fondazione Serena Onlus and ASL 3 is to provide an unique landmark for clinical assistance, in coordination with already existing local services, in order to guarantee multidisciplinary care starting from the moment of diagnosis.
Fondazione Serena Onlus manages the Center and was established in 2005 thanks to the partnership among UILDM (since 2005) , Telethon Foundation (since 2005), AISLA (since 2007), Associazione Famiglie SMA (since 2008), and Slanciamoci non-profit Association (since 2014).
The multidisciplinary team provides a customized care program to patients and their families, with the possibility of arranging different and highly specialized treatments into the same place.
Neuromuscular diseases complexity requires assistance continuity from the Hospital to local health services. Collaboration between these actualities has led to better quality of care, uniformity of protocols, and a precise cost analysis.
