NeMO Clinical Center Naples is located within the Azienda Ospedaliera Specialistica Dei Colli – Monaldi Hospital, led by the Clinical Management of Dr. Salvatore Dongiovanni and the Scientific Direction of Prof. Giuseppe Limongelli, with a multidisciplinary team that enhances the pneumological and cardiological specialties of the Hospital in which it is located.
The Center is dedicated to the memory of Prof. Giovanni Nigro, forerunner on the multidisciplinary approach to the care of people with muscular dystrophy.
It has been active since 9 November 2020 after a major renovation of 1,100 square meters, which began at the end of October 2019. NeMO Napoli has rooms characterized by ordinary, highly complex and pediatric hospitalization.
The agreement with the Azienda Ospedaliera Specialistica Dei Colli – Monaldi Hospital and the close relationship between the institutions represent an important element that ensures high standards in clinical activity from diagnosis, to therapy, to taking charge of the patient and enhances the rehabilitation and occupational therapy skills of the territory.
In addition, NeMO Napoli is the teaching center of the Specialization Schools in Pneumology and Neurology of the University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli“.

NeMO Clinical Center Naples is a certifier for rare diseases of metabolism and the central and peripheral nervous system, in close collaboration with the regional territorial network. It is a reference for national patient associations and NeMO members. Salvatore Dongiovanni is a pulmonologist and Clinical Director of the NeMO Clinical Center in Naples since 2021.
He specialized in the study of respiratory system diseases at Bari University and in 2019 he obtained a diploma in Palliative Care from the Université Catholique de Lille in France.
He has been in service at the Centre Hospitalier de Chauny in France as a praticien hospitalier (medical officer) since May 2012. From 2019 to 2021, he was the Head of the Pulmonology Department and the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit of the same hospital (with 35 pneumology beds and 5 Respiratory Intensive Care Unit beds).
Over the years, he has developed his scientific and research activities focusing on sleep-related problems and disorders, which are closely tied to his scientific output.
Giuseppe Limongelli is a cardiologist and Head of the Genetic and Rare Cardiovascular Diseases Unit at AORN Colli. He is a professor at Luigi Vanvitelli University and the Chief of the Rare Diseases Coordination Center in the Campania Region. Since 2021, he has been the Scientific Director of NeMO Clinical Center in Naples.
The primary focus of Prof. Limongelli's research activity is to study the etiology, natural history, management, and treatment of cardiomyopathies, genetic and rare heart diseases, both in pediatric and adult populations, with particular attention to stratification of populations at risk and the recent potential for experimenting with new pharmacological treatments.
